PURPOSE:To reduce the chipping defects, by protecting the front gap part of a core block with a resist film to form a control groove for track width of a magnetic head. CONSTITUTION:The area to be used as a core matchining surface of a core block 10 is polished, and a resist film 11 is formed on this polished surface. Then the film 11 is removed so that a strip-shaped resist film 12 is formed, and several grooves 14 are formed orthogonally to the extending direction of the film 12 on the block 10 with a space 15 between the grooves 14 which is equivalent to the track width. The film 12 functions to suppress the occurrence of chipping when the grooves 14 are formed. The film 12 is removed after the grooves are formed. Then a pair of blocks 10 are made into a body. The chip bars suited to a magnetic head are cut out of the unified core block. |
