<p>PURPOSE:To increase the access speed in spite of a large storage capacity, by selecting one of numbers of magnetic tapes and performing the writing/reading to this selected tape. CONSTITUTION:Numbers of magnetic tapes 1 of the same length are wound dispersively around the circumference surface of the 1st drum 2. The 1st driving motor 3 is turned clockwise and then stopped temporarily when the tip of a desired tape 1 reaches the front of a gate mechanism 4 to be reversed. Thus the mechanism 4 selects and extracts a desired tape and then feeds it to a guide mechanism 5. The revolution of the motor 3 is stopped when the tape is rolled out to its limit. Then the 2nd driving motor 7 is turned counterclockwise, and a magnetic head 6 is turned along the inner side of the tape 1 to perform the writing and reading.</p> |
