PURPOSE:To remove residual toners in compact constitution at low cost right before development, by providing a cleaning roll adjacent to a developing roll in a development housing and providing a partition means between the cleaning roll and the developing roll. CONSTITUTION:Residual toners staying in the background area are removed right before development, and positive voltage is applied in order to attract electrostatically the residual toner charged negatively to a cleaning roll 15, and the toners attracted on the surface of the roll 15 are separated from a carrier by a toner roll 17 and used again. In this case, a partition plate 22 is on a horizontal position. After a certain period is passed afterward, when the plate 22 is placed at an inclined position, a developer on the surface of a developer roll 6 is moved to the cleaning roll 15. While, the developer on the surface of the roll 15 is transported to a mixing roll 13 at the opposite side of the plate 22, and a developer used for cleaning and a developer used for development are exchanged periodically. |
