The rotary distributor has a pressurised chamber (7) which is separated from a return chamber (8) by a partition (3). An aperture is formed in the partition and a series of openings are formed in the rotating disc. As the disc rotates, the openings are cyclically aligned with the aperture. A cam (23) is mounted so as to contact the lower face of the disc and to cover the aperture by a selected amount. The cam can be rotated manually by a knob mounted on the end of a shaft. The cam rotates about an axis perpendicular to the plane of the disc and may be driven by an endless screw and pinion arrangement.
