An expanding thermoplastic wall plug has an annular neck part, and a shank comprising at least two arms 2, the shank increasing in external diameter towards the inner end and having an axial bore 7 which decreases in cross-section when the two arms are pressed together, the inner ends of the two arms are pointed or rounded and connected by a resilient element formed by tabs 4, 4<SP>1</SP> moulded integrally with each arm and joined together by welding or gluing at 5. Adjacent edges of the arms 2 have sawtooth serrations, and external ribs 10 prevent the plug from rotating in a hole. The external surface of the plug shank may have helical grooves (11), Fig. 2 (not shown). In Fig. 5 (not shown), the inner ends of the arms are connected by a spring ring (13). In Fig. 6 (not shown), the arms are connected by a plastics cap (15). The three arms in Fig. 7 (not shown) are connected by a strap having holes (17) which engage pins that project from the arms, and in Fig. 8 (not shown) a tab (18) has a spherically enlarged end (20) which is pressed into an aperture (19) in the other arm. |
