A grain hopper for a combine harvester is characterized by two augers 13 extending longitudinally near the bottom of the hopper and arranged to move the grain to an outlet shoot 18 having an auger 20. Inclined surfaces 14 are arranged between the augers 13 and inclined surfaces 16 above the augers to deflect grain. An elevator 7 supplies grain to an inlet auger 12 for the hopper. A main countershaft 19 of the machine drives, through a shaft 22, a shaft 24 from which the drives to the augers 12 and 13 in the hopper are taken. The outlet auger 20 is driven directly from the shaft 19. The drives to the augers are controllable by tensioning pulleys 34 and 41 each of which is movable by hand levers 43 and 36 to connect or disconnect the drives and these levers are interconnected so that the augers 13 cannot operate unless the outlet auger 20 is also operating. |
