The drive for a bicycle pedal crank equalises the tangential force applied by the two pedals. The pedal cranks are each mounted via a freewheel (6) to the control shaft and orientated forward, for disengagement when raised. The lifting of the pedals is aided by pedal cables, connected to a spring fixed to the rear fork on one side and to a pulley integral to the pedal crank on the other. The raising of one pedal can be actuated by the descent of the other via a reversing coupling.
