The parent patent described a filter consisting of an outer drum contg. a filter unit formed by a row of hollow "lozenges" with one diagonal (D) which is horizontal. The lozenges are located in a sleeve which has a top inlet and a bottom outlet for a granulate, which forms a row of filter beds between the lozenges. The granulate can absorb and/or adsorb contaminants. The novelty in the present invention is that the other diagonal (D') of each lozenge is vertical. The top inlet of the sleeve is pref. located below a charging gutter provided with an upper dust removal chamber, and a lower distribution chamber which receives the granulate through a pneumatic injection nozzel with a flat outlet. Improvements are provide to the main patent, so the drum may be located on a horizontal axis and used to filter a fluid flowing horizontally through the drum. The drum is easily loaded or unloaded with the granulate forming the filter beds.
