摘要 <p>PURPOSE:To increase the thickness of a middle case without increasing the dimension in the axial direction thereof by a method wherein a return spring is constituted by a snap ring, an annular spring, an annular presser and a cushion plate arranged in this order in the axial direction. CONSTITUTION:The return spring mechanism 685 for an annular piston 683 arranged between the annular piston 683 and a multi-plate brake 65 is constituted by a snap ring 686, an annular wave spring 688, an annular presser 687 and the cushion plate 689 comprising a plate spring, all arranged in this order in the axial direction. Accordingly, if an appropriate amount of spring load is obtained for the annular piston 683, the inside of the annular piston 683 never projects. Thus, the thickness of the corresponding part of the middle case 3 does not become thin. Therefore, it becomes possible to form an oil passage to the middle case 3 without degrading the strength and rigidity.</p>
