Method of producing a fuel cell electrode comprising an electrically conducting mechanical support (1) supporting a catalytic structure (2) covered with a film of a water repellant material (3). After depositing the catalytic structure (2) onto the support (1) a water repellant powder maintained at a temperature at most equal to 4 DEG C is deposited by pulverisation, then the assembly thus obtained is pressed by raising the pressure by at most 20 bars per second, up to a maximum value at most equal to 400 bars. This maximum pressure is maintained for a specified period. Method applicable to the production of gas fuel cell electrodes.
