When a square pipe is connected to another square pipe or another component, a female thread that is incomplete along the periphery is used. This takes up at least two opposing sub-areas of the inside of two walls of the square pipe that are of uniform thickness. The female thread leaves the outer surface of these walls unbroken and is designed to engage with a cylindrical connector piece. This has a male thread that fits with the female thread and can be connected with another square pipe or another component. A fixture for producing the female thread has a body, which has a through bore with female thread for guiding a thread tap for cutting the desired female thread in a square pipe. The fixture also has at least two side pieces extending from the body in the direction of the bore. These side pieces are used to fix the body on a square pipe with the bore in the desired position for forming the square pipe's female thread.<IMAGE> |
