A shut-off device for sanitary fittings, especially a side valve, can be used both for a ceramic slide upper part as well as for a valve upper part, an expanded annular space, extending in the direction of the actuating device, being provided above the valve seat, while the valve seat can be replaced by a screw holder, in each case depending on the upper part which is used.
