The invention relates to a wheel bolt as an anti-theft device for motor vehicle wheel rims. The wheel bolt contains a longitudinal bore with a multi-cornered cross-section into which a plug-in interlock with a round cross-section can be inserted, which interlock engages with a locking nose into a groove (8) in the longitudinal bore of the wheel bolt. A disc-shaped flange on the outer edge of the plug-in interlock prevents, in conjunction with a corresponding extension of the longitudinal bore, the ingress of dust into the longitudinal bore and reduces the possibility of the plug-in interlock being forced out or bored into. In addition, a further groove is provided in which an O-ring is located which centres the plug-in interlock in the longitudinal bore. A cap which can be plugged onto the bolt head prevents the plug-in interlock becoming dirty or corroding.
