The invention relates to a navigation method in which a course reference device, for example a course gyroscope, is used for determining the course angle of a vehicle, and a displacement sensor (1) and a vertical sensor (2) are used for sensing the deviation of the vertical axis of the vehicle from the vertical. Signals of these measuring instruments are supplied to a computer which processes these signals, carries out a correction and generates a position signal. According to the invention, the correction relating to the alarm signal is carried out by drawing conclusions relating to the surface of the roadway and thus to a wheel slip, from the vehicle movements, particularly the pitch and roll movements, and the displacement sensor signal is corrected in accordance with the magnitude of the slip. In an alternative solution, an acceleration signal alpha s is derived from the displacement sensor signal and from the signal of the vertical reference, a signal alpha N corresponding to the longitudinal acceleration of the vehicle is also formed. By comparing these two signals, the wheel slip of the vehicle can also be determined and thus the displacement sensor signal corrected. <IMAGE>
