PURPOSE:To prevent any leakage of a fuel and an oxidizing agent easily, decrease the thickness of frame bodies, and reduce the size of a fuel cell by providing projections on partial or the entire circumferences of one or both surfaces of a fuel-chamber and an oxidizing-agent-chamber frame body, or a fuel-electrode or an oxidizing-electrode supporting frame body. CONSTITUTION:An oxidizing-agent-chamber frame body 4 and a fuel-chamber frame body 8 are made of a polypropylene resin, and projections 12 are provided on the entire circumferences of both surfaces of each frame body 4 or 8. An oxidizing-agent-chamber gasket 10 and a fuel-chamber gasket 11, which are made of a fluorine rubber, respectively, are interposed between the frame body 4 and an oxidizing-electrode current-collecting frame 5 and between the frame body 8 and a fuel-electrode current-collecting frame 7. After that, the whole members are clamped with bolts. A sufficient sealing effect can be realized by changing the dimensions of the projections 12, which are provided on the frame bodies 4 and 8, according to the thickness of above gaskets 10 and 11. For instance, when the thickness of the gaskets 10 and 11 is 0.5mm., any liquid or gas leakage can be prevented by making the projection 12 to have a semi-circular section with a width of 0.2mm. and a height of 0.2mm.. |
