FLAT ROLLING METHOD FOR STEEL BAR AND WIRE ROD AN INLET GUIDE FOR FLAT ROLLING

PURPOSE:To roll steel bars and wire rods with high elongating efficiency by small diameter rolls without lateral inclination of trailing ends by providing bill- like holding parts between flat rolls and guiding rolls of inlet guides and specifying the ratio between the diameter of the flat rolls and the roll gap. CONSTITUTION:In the stage of flat rollings of steel bars and wire rods, materials are rolled with the high elongating efficiency by the small diameter rolls of which the ratio D/H of the roll diameter D with respect to a roll gap H is expressed by D/H<=100/H+5. Two mating guide plates having taperes are provided to inlet guides for guiding a material to be rolled into the roll gap of flat rolls 4 and said plates are held by means of guide plates 7, by which the material to be rolled is guided and passed through guiding rolls 3. The material is grasped by bill-like holding parts 5 and is conducted to the rolls 4. Thus the lateral inclination which tends to arise at the trailing end of the rolled material is decreased and the yield of products is improved.
