<p>Compounds of the formula I <IMAGE> where R1 is H or an organic group; R2 is H or a carboxy protecting group; and Y is -S-Het where Het is an optionally substituted heterocyclic ring or optionally substituted carboxylic acyloxy, alkoxy, alkylthio or pyridyl, or azido, are prepared by reacting <IMAGE> with Y-H where L is Cl, Br or OH or an activated OH. Many of the compounds I are new. The compounds I and their pharmaceutically acceptable salts find use as anti-bacterial agents.</p> |
