The invention relates to a guide rail for roller shutters or the like composed of slats, having a U-shaped cross-section as roller shutter receptacle and sliding profile slats on the insides of the roller shutter receptacle. In order to be able to use a uniform guide rail for the slats of different thickness, the invention provides for at least one separable sliding tab or the like to be moulded at least onto the sliding part of the one sliding profile slat of the one side limb, the free end of which sliding tab has a spacing from the sliding part of the sliding profile slat of the other side limb, said spacing being matched to the smallest thickness of first slats, and provides for the spacing between the sliding parts of both sliding profile slats to be designed in the case of the sliding tab or the like having been separated with respect to the largest thickness of second slats.
