PURPOSE:To obtain a device of simpler constitution by locking the 1st optical scanning carriage for illuminating and scanning an original during adjustment of a variable power position, and holding the carriage in a still state. CONSTITUTION:This device is provided with the 1st optical scanning carriage 21 which illuminates and scans an original O, the 2nd optical scannig carriage 22 which guides scanning light to a photoreceptor 31, wire pulley systems 34- 45 which move both carriages forth and back at speed ratio 2:1, a motor 33 for the forward movement of the optical scanning carriages, a motor 47 for adjusting variable magnification positions of the carriages, and a stopper member 49 which restrains the carriage 21 from moving back in the opposite direction near its starting position. During the variable power position adjustment, the motor 33 is powered up to generate torque of rotation for pressing and locking part 21a of the carriage 21 to a member 49, and in this attitutde, the carriage 21 is locked in an immobile state for the carriage 22 adjusted to a variable power position. |
