PURPOSE:To quickly find out required still picture information, by simultaneously recording a plurality of reduced still pictures and displaying them on one index screen split into a plurality. CONSTITUTION:An input video signal (a) is written in a picture memory 2 via an A/D converter 1. A readout output of the memory 2 is applied to a disc recorder and reproducer 3 for recording. After the readout output of the memory 2 is reduced at a reducing device 4, it is given to the disc recorder and reproducer 3, where the output is recorded in areas for the index recording. At reproduction, the reproduced output of the index recording area of the index recorder and reproducer 3 is applied to an index memory 5, its output is given to a monitor TV via a switching device 6 and a D/A converter 7 and a plurality of reduced still pictures are displayed on the screen. Required information can be selected while this display is observed. |
