PURPOSE:To make the engine workable even if the control unit has got out of order in such a way that an auxiliary plunger pump by which fuel oil is metered and pressure-fed is juxtaposed on a fuel injector equipped with a fuel booster. CONSTITUTION:Pressure-reducing valves 6, 8 are energized respectively by a control unit 10, and pressurized oil from an oil pressure source 1 is arranged to its compatible value, and it is fed into a pressure chamber 32 of a fuel injection nozzle 9. When the control unit 10 gets out of order, at the same time the pressure-reducing valves 6, 8 becomes incontrollable, and a change-over valve 7 becomes incapable of changing over, an oil pump 3 is stopped, pressure in the pressure chamber 32 of the fuel injection nozzle 9 is lowered, and a needle valve 30 is energized only by a spring 31. Then, a plunger pump 21 is driven, by which fuel to be fed through a compression chamber 16 into a fuel sump 34 lifts the needle valve 30 against the force of said spring 31, and the fuel is injected through the injection nozzle 9. |
