The activated portion 3 of a magnetron cathode consists of a porous tungsten cylinder impregnated with barium calcium aluminate, fitting over a molybdenum tube 1, and held in place by rings 4 and 5, which are of graphite to reduce both thermal and secondary emission. The activated portion 3 may be coated with osmium, indium, ruthenium, or rhenium, to increase the thermal emission therefrom. |
