The present invention relates to a method for controlling the combustion course in an Otto engine, and an arrangement for working the method. According to the invention, both an ordinary engine fuel, and an agent B affecting the combustion in the engine with the ability to reduce the risk of abnormal combustion, so-called knocking, in the engine, are introduceable into an Otto engine 1. In order to obtain maximum performance from a fuel-air mixture introduced into the engine 1 at simultaneous minimum consumption of fuel and supplementary agents, the introduction of the agent affecting the combustion is controlled in dependence of signals from a so-called knocking detector 22, which in a way known per se senses knockings occurring in the engine. <IMAGE> |
