PURPOSE:To increase the utilization of the active material of an electrode plate by giving vibration to a lead storage battery during its initial charge. CONSTITUTION:After making the active material of an electrode plate and an electrolyte in full contact with one another, in order to discharge minute bubbles contained in the electrode plate, a glass mat and a separator outside these members, a lead storage battery is placed on and fixed to a table by means of bolts or the like so that the battery doesn't move during vibration, and initial charge is carried out while giving vibrations to the battery. A lead storage battery (A) obtained by such a means as above indicates its maximum capacity from the initial cycle, while a lead storage battery (B) obtained by the conventional charging indicates its maximum capacity at other part than the initial cycle. |
