PURPOSE:To use a character generator even for a 7-wire dot printer in common, by storing data for controlling 8 wires among 9 wires in the form of one-byte data and the remaining data in the form of one-byte data on one character in the same 8-bit storage memory. CONSTITUTION:A character generator 11 for a 9-wire dot printer consists of a 8-bit storage memory, i.e. an ROM. In addresses A1-A7 of this ROM, data for controlling the 1st-4th, and 6th-9th wires of a dot head 13, are stored at every byte and in an address A8, data for controlling the 5th wire 14 of the dot head 13 is stored at every bit. |
