PURPOSE:To simplify the structure of a heat engine and to reduce the weight and the size of the same, by supporting form memory members in a freely rotatable manner between an eccentric support point connected to a turning shaft and a plurality of peripheral support points disposed around the eccentric support point, and heating the form memory members selectively. CONSTITUTION:An eccentric shaft 4 is supported in a freely rotatable manner by bearings 7a-7c. When a form memory member 6a is heated by passing current therethrough in the state that a form memory member 6c is stretched straight and form memory members 6a, 6b are bent greatly, the member 6a tends to restore its original straight form and causes the eccentric shaft 4 to turn by bending the member 6c. By heating the members 6b, 6c, 6a selectively in this turn, a turning shaft 2 connected to the eccentric shaft 4 via an arm 3 is turned continuously. By employing such an arrangement, it is enabled to simplify the structure of a heat engine, to reduce the weight of the same and also to reduce the amount of a form memory material used. Further, the form memory members can be heated by passing current directly therethrough. |
