PURPOSE:The titled drug that contains an extract obtained by extracting a plant of Epimedium grandiflorum Morr. with a mixed solvent of water and an organic solvent miscible with water or with water and adding an organic solvent to the extract to cause precipitation as an active ingredient. CONSTITUTION:A perennial plant of Epimedium grandiflorum Morr. is extracted with a mixed solvent of water and an organic solvent miscible with water or with water and the resultant aqueous extract solution is mixed with a solvent that can mixed with water in any proportion to precipitate a product that is used as a carcinostatic, metastasis preventive or phylactic agent and has following properties: description; a brownish powder with a pH of 6.5 + or -0.5, when 100mg of the extract is dissolved in 50ml of water, solubility; soluble in water, insoluble in methanol, color reactions; positive to anthrone-sulfuric reaction, negative to ninhydric reaction; ultraviolet absorption spectrum; lambdamaxH<2>O (nm) 280, 325 (shoulder), infrared absorption spectrum is given in the figure. |
