<p>PURPOSE:To reduce power source capacity for holding internal data when storage capacity is less, and to prolong the life of the power source, by varying the storage capacity of an internal data storage device at a user's request when a processor is manufactured. CONSTITUTION:The microprocessor of a data processing unit is provided with an arithmetic circuit for arithmetic, memory cells 8 of an internal storage device for storing the arithmetic result of the arithmetic circuit, a control circuit, etc. Then, the power source line 10 of the miroprocessor body and another power line 9 exclusively for the internal data storage device are connected to respective memory cells 8. A decision on which of the line 10 and 9 is used to supply electric power to respective memory cells 8 is made depending upon a user's request of storage capacity, and changed by selecting the masks of the lines 9 and 10. When the storage capacity is less, the power source capacity of the line 9 is reduced to prolong the life of the power source.</p> |
