The programming unit comprises a microprocessor with RAM and ROM coupled to it by a data bus. A clock unit gives day of work data down to seconds. A decoder enables an output channel to be selected to operate a partic. solenoid valve in a sprinkler system. An electronic unit enables programming time data to be set using coded rotary switches. A selector switch enables the operating or non operating times to be programmed. Further switches enable the days of the week to be selected and to signal that these be active or non active days for sprinkling or fertilisation. Other selectors enable water pumps or fertiliser pumps to be selected for operation at the programmed times.
