Process for the enrichment of a carbonated ore gangue, partic. a phosphate ore, comprises calcining the ore to convert the carbonates of the gangue, e.g calcite, into oxides, partic. chalk, effecting slabing of the calcined ore and washing the ore with water, with introduction of CO2-contg. gas into the mixt. to convert the oxides into hydroxides, partic. Ca(OH)2, dissolving the hydroxides, precipitating the carbonates, partic. CaCO3 and finally sepg. the enriched ore and the carbonates. This known process is improved in that, after slabing and before washing with water, the calcined ore is subjected to a granulometric classification in which part of the fines of oxide-enriched ore, partic. chalk, is removed. Process is more economical than known processes and is industrially feasible.
|
