The device acts as a shock absorber of the movement of a link on a railway vehicle fitted with a pendular type of suspension. This acts to damp the longitudinal component of the movement of the link of all or some of the axles. A circular friction device (31) is placed between one end of the suspension spring (11) and the associated suspension arm (5) and bearings (30). The arm is fixed to the vehicle underframe (1). The friction device uses washers, and spring washers, tightened on them by nuts.
