In a damped non-return valve (10), a valve closing body (14) is guided in a guide cylinder (23). A cylindrical space (24), which is open to the exterior only through a damping opening (31), is closed by the guide cylinder (23), its base (22) and the valve closing body (14). The damping behaviour of the valve closing body (14), which is possibly oscillating, is fixed by predetermining the size of the damping opening (31). The valve (10) can be constructed such that it has a screw head (19) and an external threaded part (20) adjacent thereto, by means of which it can be screwed into the cover of a compressed gas tank such that it is protected against damage. Such damped non-return valves are used particularly advantageously in medical technology and other ventilation technologies, where smooth operation of the pressure-generating apparatus parts is required, such as in the ventilation of computers. <IMAGE>
