The invention relates to an improvement of the device for the conical expansion of metal tubes, the said device being described in Patent 2820324, comprising a die, which is tapered on its inside and has air outlet openings, and has a mandrel, which is equipped at its end with a compressed-air connection and is connected by a hollow duct to outlet channels, a sleeve which is arranged in axially displaceable fashion on the mandrel, the wall of which is equipped with at least one outlet channel and which has a return spring. According to the invention, the mandrel is provided with an expanding sleeve, the tapered end of the sleeve interacting with an oppositely tapered end of the expanding sleeve. This simplifies the procedure.
