In a cutting machine, a rotating disc cutter (6) having a central bearing journal (5) is mounted in a recess in a front wall (2) of the housing (1). Situated at the free end of the bearing journal (5) is an annular groove (7) into which at least one locking member, radially adjustable against spring tension, engages. In order that the locking member can be manufactured in a simple manner, guarantees secure engagement with the annular groove and causes a minimum of friction, it consists of a bar (4) of rectangular cross-section which is guided in such a way as to be displaceable to a limited extent. This bar engages with a peg (8) in an inclined groove (9) in an adjusting ring (10) which is rotatable by way of a lever (13). As a result, the bar (4) can be lifted out of the annular groove (7). The lever can be manually adjusted by way of a projection (15) passing through a perforation in the front wall (2) of the housing (1). <IMAGE>
