A water-fixable toner powder, the individual toner particles of which consist of a hydrolyzed polyvinyl ester which is swellable but insoluble in water having a temperature up to 30 DEG C, e.g. polyvinyl alcohol having a degree of hydrolysis above 98%, a filler material which is insoluble and non-swellable in water and being present in an amount of between 10 and 60% by volume and, optionally, other additives, such as colouring material and/or polarity control agent. Preferably the toner particles are porous and preferably have a specific surface of between 0,6 and 2 m<2>/g.
