PURPOSE:To reduce the power consumption of an electric circuit and to improve the performance by driving a display element based on three potentials corresponding to the output of a voltage transforming mechanism. CONSTITUTION:A time reference signal source 113, a time counting unit composing mechanism 114, a time display mechanism 117, an outside operation member, an electric energy supply source 118, and a voltage transforming mechanism 116 switching the connection of an accumulator according to a pulse signal and thereby transforming a voltage from the supply source 118 are provided. The mechaism 117 comprises an EC display element and a driving circuit, and the driving circuit has a switching circuit element which is formed of FET and connects three potentials of positive, negative and open to the display element by switching, and a driving signal generating circuit preparing a display start/stop signal based on display data, sets an ON voltage out of the three potentials, which drives the display element, to be lower in potential than an OFF voltage, and is started by an output of the mechanism 116. |
