PURPOSE:To magnify the exhaust fine tube and stem-pin circle and to improve the material effect, operation efficiency and storage.transportation efficiency, by bringing the end surface of a glass neck into contact with the side upper external surface of an electron gun on the base of a glass stem, then by heating to weld hermetically said two surfaces, so that said two surfaces are not parallel to each other. CONSTITUTION:The cutting line in the end surface of a neck 6 is formed so that the inside dameter side of the neck is an edge part and has a taper part 10, and is not parallel to the direction which is perpendicular to the tube axis. An electron gun structure 4 is inserted into the neck 6, and a stem 1 is disposed so that the upper external surface on the base 2 is correspondingly in correct contact with the edge part 10 of the neck 6. Next, an inert gas is being forced to flow thereinto through an exhaust fine tube, and the contact point of said upper external surface and the edge part 10 is heated for hermetical weld by a burner 8 which is disposed at the side end of the base 2 or at the upper oblique position of the electron gun on the side end part of the base 2. In this case, the angle by which the end surface of the neck intersects the side upper external surface of the electron gun on the base does not imply parallel, status, and the inside diameter side edge part of the neck is in contact with the external surface of the base, so that the flame of the burner does not directly come into the inside of the neck, consequently, the oxidation of the inside electron gun structure and stem-pin can be prevented. |
