Introducing glass gob into roughing mould - while avoiding local cooling of the glass

Method and appts. of introduction of a gob of glass into a roughing mould which is normally moving with uniform velocity in which the mould is first accelerated, then slowed down and stopped at the point at which the gob enters the mould, then accelerated and returned to the normal speed of movement. The mould is moved in such a way that when it has returned to its normal speed, it has also reached the posn. it could have reached by continuous constant velocity movement. The appts. is used in a multiple rough moulding mechanism. The method avoids local cooling of one side of the gob due to first contacting the mould at a specific point producing a repeated fault.
