The reclining chair (deckchair) comprises two rectangular frames (1,2) of unequal widths with a length of textile material secured to the upper cross-bar (X) of one frame (2) and the front cross-bar (Y) of the other. The sides of the frames are connected via a lower pair (3) and an upper pair (4) of side bars whose ends are pivoted to the respective frame sides. These bars (3,4) are arranged below and above the cross-over points of the frames, which are not hinged together. The upper side bars (4) are pref. upwardly curved and may serve as arm rests.
