PURPOSE:To optimally control the reactive power required by a system without providing a reactive power compensator by providing a reactive power function at the load unit itself which is connected to an AC power source. CONSTITUTION:A current control loop which includes a comparator 15 and the like controls the AC input/output currents of a converter 1 in response to the outputs of arithmetic circuits 10, 13. Since the current command signal outputted from the circuit 10 provides an effective current command, it can control the component having the same phase as the AC power source voltage of the AC input current of the converter 1 and hence the effective current. The current of 90 deg. phase difference to the input voltage of the converter is controlled in response to the output of the circuit 13. In other words, the reactive power is controlled. When the magnitude of the reactive power of the AC power source system varies, the magnitude is loaded from a detector 9, is compared with the instruction value, and the reactive current is controlled to the prescribed value in response to the deviation. |
