PURPOSE:To obtain an aldehyde or ketone compound, selectively, in high yield, by decomposing a hydroperoxide compound in the presence of chromium trioxide under mild reaction conditions. CONSTITUTION:An aldehyde or ketone compound can be prepared selectively, by decomposing 1mol of a hydroperoxide compound in the presence of 10<-1>-10<-3> mol of chromium trioxide at 0-120 deg.C. The hydroperoxide compound used as a starting material is a compound obtained by contacting a hydrocarbon with a peroxide or active oxygen. Examples of the hydroperoxide compound are cyclohexyl hydroperoxide, m-phenoxybenzyl hydroperoxide, etc., and the obtained aldehyde or ketone compound is e.g. cyclohexanone, m-phenoxybenzaldehyde, etc. |
