<p>PURPOSE:To correctly discriminate characters by finding the center of gravity line of a character from a digital picture signal, calculating a skew angle, changing the reading order on the basis of the skew angle and reading out the digital picture signal from a memory. CONSTITUTION:A two-dimensional sensor 1 is fitted to a scanner part and an analog picture signal from the sensor 1 is binary-coded by a binary-coding circuit 2. The digital picture signal from the circuit 2 is stored in a picture signal buffer 3 in every picture. On the other hand, the digital picture signal from the circuit 2 is sent to a skew detecting circuit 4 to detect the skew angle and a skew compensating circuit 5 rearranges the picture signals from the buffer 3 on the basis of the detected information. The output of the circuit 5 is segmented vertically and horizontally by a preprocessing circuit 6 and character discrimination is applied by a discrimination processing circuit 7.</p> |
