PURPOSE:To quickly fix the recordings of high resolution without lowering the quality of print by providing a platen heater in a place close to the platen in a region where the platen does not contact a recording medium. CONSTITUTION:A platen heater 12 is provided in a place close to the platen in a region where the platen 1 of an ink jet recorder does not contact a recording medium 11. The platen 1 is heated by the heater 12, the medium 11 is also heated, and ink to be printed by a print head is dried and fixed. Then, the temperature of the medium 11 is detected by a detector 13 and put in a temperature control circuit 14 through a feedback system to keep the heater 12 at a given temperature. |
