摘要 <p>A telemeter appts. using two different wavelength bands is employed to make a thermal examination of a wall, and then to detect any micro-leaks in the wall, esp. in the sec. barrier in the hull of a tanker ship. The pref. inspection method uses a first step (a), in which a hot gas is injected onto both sides of the wall, so that infrared (IR) scanning can be used to make a thermal map of the wall. In a second step (b), two gases which react exothermally are used, one being fed onto each side of the wall; a radioactive element is included in one gas. The telemeter is then used to make both an infrared and a gamma ray map of the wall. Used for precise location of any defects. (7yp).</p>
