<p>The height adjustable drive head is for a pit-face coal-conveyor of the endless scraper-chain type, using a frame (24) on a base plate (30) to mount a wheel driven by a reduction motor. The plate supports both the wheel and the motor and is connected to the frame by jacks (32). The arrangement permits frame height adjustment relative to the pit floor, jacks sited in one frame side wall being used to pivot the plate about a longitudinal axis (31) under the other. The jacks are sited between the wheel and the motor and the weight distribution is such that the vertical resultant of the wheel-motor group passes through a base plate bearing zone (37) whatever the frame height.</p> |
