Novel 7H-pyrrolo[3,2-f]quinazoline-1,3-diamines of the formula <IMAGE> in which the substituents are defined in Claim 1, are prepared. These compounds are obtained by reacting a 5-aminoindole, which has the substituents X and Y<1>, with an alkali metal dicyanamide at 185-250 DEG C in an aliphatic alcohol. The novel compounds can be used for preventing the growth of bacteria, for controlling malaria and for controlling leukaemia.
