<p>Polymeric diffusion matrix for the application of anthraline (1,8,9-trihydroxyanthracene) or one of its derivs., to the skin, contains a cellulose ester and, as plasticiser, an alkyl ester of an aliphatic acid - the acid of which contains 5 - 18 carbon atoms and the alkyl gp. contains 3-18 C and is straight or branched chain. Used in treatment of skin ailments, esp. psoriasis. The anthraline does not oxidise, the compsn. does not cause staining to the skin or clothing, and it is non-irritant. The pref. cellulose esters are the acetobutyrates and acetopropionates, esp. those having a viscosity between 0.038 and 100 poises. The pref. plasticisers are isopropyl myristate and palmitate.</p> |
