Edible snail-raising unit - has mesh base permitting access to longitudinal food, and water-supply channels

The snail raising frame comprises a set of mesh walls (12,14,16,18,22) and a horizontal mesh base (26). A pair of parallel channels (32,34) are mounted below the base and supplied with food and water. The size of mesh of the base is large enough to permit the heads of the snails to pass through for access to the channels. The food channel supports an endless belt conveyor which moves horizontally to supply a constant flow of fresh food. An inclined base plate (42) extends below the mesh base to direct the waste from the snails into a low-level gutter (44).
