1,211,179. Electric incandescent lamps; discharge lamps. PHILIPS ELECTRONIC & ASSOCIATED INDUSTRIES Ltd. 14 May, 1969 [16 May, 1968], No. 24531/69. Headings H1D and H1F. In a discharge or incandescent lamp having at least one flat pinch seal 61 through which one or more lead-in conductors extend, each conductor comprises a metal foil secured to a filament-supporting wire, which extends into the lamp envelope, and to a current supply wire 47, 48 which extends at right angles to the axis of the lamp and projects through one of the narrow sides of the pinch. A third wire 43, 44, secured to the foil is used for supporting the conductor in a jig during the formation of the pinch and may be cut off when the lamp is complete. The distance of the filament from the end of the pinch may be reduced, if desired, after formation of the pinch by grinding the end face 64. The wires 47, 48 may be made of molybdenum coated with a silicate. |
