The invention relates to a method and a device for the improved installation of spiral heat exchangers in locking external tubes. It is proposed for this purpose that the locking of the wound spiral (2) is performed by locking strips (3) made from a material such that after insertion of the spiral (2) in the external tube (1) said strips are destroyed. The spiral (2) and the external tube (1) consist of elastic, deformable material.
